Belville Elementary students chosen to be “Mayor for the Day”

Andrew Allers, Blair Sampson and Grace Kayler were selected to be the Belville ‘Mayor for the Day’ on May 29th. The students took an oath and were proclaimed ‘mayors’ by the actual Belville Mayor, Mike Allen.

Mayor for the DayThey sat along Allen during an improvised board of commissioners meeting. The day encouraged children about their local government.

Each child submitted an essay depicting why they love Belville and how they would take the role of being mayor. “I would love for Belville to have a recreational center,” said Kayler in her essay.

In Sampson’s essay she stated that she would help the mayor place picnic tables at Brunswick River Park.

“I would like to see new shops and restaurants on Main Street,” said Allers in his essay.
